Conch Republic Cigar
Hello all! So over the past weekend I took some time off and went to the Fla. Keys to go camping on the beach with my wife and two good friends of ours. We sat in the wonderful tropical breeze and smoked a few good cigars.
During the trip we spent a day in Key West, where we stopped by a local cigar maker’s shop called Conch Republic Cigar Factory. I’ve had their cigars before and enjoyed them very much, so I thought I’d do a review of their cigars for you.
My focus for the review today is their Robusto a 5×50 Connecticut shade wrapper, long-leaf Dominican binder, and Honduran filler. This cigar has a rich smooth earthy taste with a peppery note to it, a wonderful draw and good burn. I smoke this cigar to a nub every time. I have also smoked this same robusto but with the maduro wrapper. The maduro wrapper gave it a stronger spicy note.

So if you find yourself in Key West I incurage you to stop by the Conch Republic Cigar Factory and pick-up a cigar or two. I will also include a link to their site so if you feel like ording a box or want more info it’s there for you. Let me know what you think of them.
And don’t forget “It’s simply about the cigar.”

Liga Privada no.9
Today I wanted to talk to you about a new cigar called Liga Privada no.9 by Drew Estate. This 6 x 52 maduro wrapper was first blended as the personal smoke of Drew Estate President Steve Saka. But a large demand for this cigar led him to release the no. 9 in limited batches.
I first enjoyed this smoke at a release party a few months ago, where I had the privilege to meet and talk to Steve Saka about this cigar and others of the Drew Estate line.
Now for the review stuff.
The Liga Privada no. 9 has a Connecticut broadleaf maduro wrapper, a Brazilian Mata Fina binder, and is made up of Dominican, Honduran, and Nicaraguan fillers which gives it a full and complex flavor. One thing to note is, that unlike most of the drew Estate line, the No. 9 is not an infused cigar; this is one of the reasons that Steve had this cigar blended for himself. While talking to him I found out that he is not fond of infused cigars.
I found the No.9 to be full-bodied with woody/peppery tones that are slightly sweet. It has a good draw, even and long burn. Great after a heavy meal or with a glass of port. The only down side to this cigar is that if you do not like a heavy and complex flavors you my not enjoy it as much as I did. But I do encourage you to try one for yourself, and let me know what you think.
